From Chaos to Clarity: The Central Role of the Designer's Appreciative System in Design Activity

----------------------------------------------------

Monique is a dedicated design educator, researcher and practitioner. She graduated with a Bachelor of Design, with first class honours, from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in 2001. She has practiced as an interior designer and a furniture/object designer, developing award-winning projects. Her interest in design activity has been employed to develop and implement strategic models designed to encourage collaboration and innovation within design practice. Currently a sessional academic, she lectures and tutors undergraduate courses within the School of Design Studies (UNSW) and has been the principle lecturer in first year studio for the last six years. Her educational role has involved specialised events including the prestigious Masterclass, during Sydney’s annual Design Week. A member of the Designer Research Society, and a Candidate for Masters of Design (Hons), her principle areas of research are the generation of design knowledge, multidisciplinary design activity, and design pedagogy.
